When I hear the word Mocha I go on alert. I love the taste of coffee with protein. It overpowers the taste of protein and I love everything mocha! ☕️

I even add coffee granules to brownies. So this Mocha Coffee protein shake recipe takes care of all my mocha cravings while I get a good dose of protein. This way, I am all set for breakfast. This is filling and very tasty.

Ingredients you will need

  • 1 Scoop Whey Protein, chocolate flavor
  • Almond milk or skim milk: I sometimes use 2% milk.
  • Brewed coffee: Don’t want the caffeine? Use decaffeinated coffee.
  • Sugar-free chocolate syrup
  • Crushed ice

How to make Coffee protein shake

Step 1: Place the protein powder, milk, coffee, chocolate syrup, and ice in a blender.

Step 2: Blend until smooth for about 1 minute.

Recipe notes and Tips

  • You can freeze the cold brew into cubes and use that in place of crushed ice.
  • If you do not have chocolate protein powder, use vanilla.
  • For a plant-based option, use almond milk or coconut milk, and be sure to use plant-based protein powder.
  • Add a dash of cinnamon for a warm flavor.

Why does protein powder not mix with coffee?

If you add protein powder to hot coffee it will not mix well and end up being a bit lumpy. Try mixing the protein powder with cold brew instead. Or just use a blender to make sure everything blends well.
